Youth Risk Behavior Survey

Emerson’s Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) is an important part of a comprehensive effort to help ensure children live safe, healthy lives. Over the 20 years since the YRBS began, it has proven to be a valuable tool for public schools to understand students’ existing and emerging risks, and help inform school curriculum to reduce these risks.

The survey is conducted every two years and consists of asking students to respond to approximately 90 questions that cover a range of health topics. The specific questions are carefully and thoughtfully selected by school leaders and the professional research team, based on the objectives to measure existing health risks and identify emerging ones.
