Our annual Back to School/ Curriculum Night will be held this evening at 6:30.  Teachers always look forward to this opportunity to share information with parents.  During this evening you will have an opportunity to learn about the classroom routines, curriculum expectations, and ways to support students at home.  We hope you are able to join us for this informative program.

  • 7:00-7:30         Classroom Parent Presentation for Grades 2 and 3

                                      Specialist visits

Book Fair for Parents of Preschool, Kindergarten, Grade 1

·         7:30- 8:00       Classroom Presentations (Preschool, Kindergarten, Grade 1)

Book Fair for Parents of Grades 2 and 3

Our Core values are such an important part of our school community.   From the time students enter

the Green Meadow Community, we emphasize the importance of being Kind, Safe, and Learners.  This focus is supported by our Responsive Classroom school wide Social Curriculum.   This year we introduced these Core values to our students through grade level meetings.   As a grade level we discussed how to be kind in our words and actions, how to make everyone feel safe and welcome, and how to make sure everyone can learn in our school.  During these meetings students also had an opportunity to welcome new students and meet the adults who will be working with them throughout the year.   It was a wonderful way for us to come together and begin the development of a grade level community.  Throughout the school year, we will continue these opportunities to meet as grade levels in addition to the daily classroom morning meetings for important discussions.

We were so fortunate that the weather cleared last Friday, allowing us to hold our annual PTO back to School picnic.  Families enjoyed the opportunity to get to know each other while sharing a picnic dinner. Students were so excited to spend the evening playing on the playground with their friends.  It was wonderful to see so many families join us for this special event.  Special thanks to the PTO for planning and organizing this event.

We look forward to seeing you this evening at Curriculum Night!

News from Mrs. Lawton’s Class:

Dear Green Meadow Families,

It is hard to believe that we are approaching the 10th day of school.  We have spent a lot of time in first grade getting to know everyone and establishing our classroom rules and expectations.  It certainly has been fun hearing about all the fun activities that everyone did over the summer.  We will be implementing Writers Workshop as well as our phonics Fundations program within the next few days. The majority of the activities we have worked on has been review, simple assessments and get to know you activities. We are looking forward to a fun year ahead.  Enjoy the wonderful weather we are having and see you at curriculum night.

Take Care!  Denise Lawton

News from Sra. Soler’s Third Grade Class:

We are super excited to be in third grade and off to a great start!  We are proud to show our school’s core values: Being Kind, Being Safe and Being Learners.

We are looking forward to learn all about the weather and the changes coming up once Fall gets here.  Only nine more days!

Reading is everywhere! We are building our stamina practicing everyday during our Daily Five.  It is FUN!!

Special Notes:

·         Back to School Curriculum Night is an important opportunity for teachers to share information with parents.  Therefore this is a parent only evening.  A family Open House is held in the spring.

·         Morning Supervision begins each day at 8:15.  Please do not drop students off before this time.  The Excel program offers an early arrival if you need to bring your child to school early.

·         During the next few weeks we will begin practicing some of our important safety procedures.  In a positive and reassuring way, students will learn the procedures for fire drills and school lockdowns. You may want to continue the conversations with your child at home.
