The completion of third grade is truly a milestone in each child’s education.   This achievement marks the end of their Green Meadow experience and opens the door to the next step as a student at Fowler School. For the staff at Green Meadow, this milestone is truly bittersweet.  We are so proud of each student’s growth as a learner as well as their emergence as kind and safe individuals. It is also difficult for us to see them move on as they transition to Fowler School.  Each student is very special to us and will be missed!

We have received many inquiries about the third grade march that signals the end of the students’ third grade experience.  Please join us on Monday, June 19 at 11:15 to cheer for our third grade students on this special occasion.  We will follow the procedures outlined below for all to share in this special celebration.

·         Upon arriving at school, families should find a viewing spot outside, around the circle in the front of the school.

v  The third graders will exit the building through the door by the kindergarten wing and walk down the side walkway and around the circle, following the same path as the Monster March.

v  They will then reenter the building through the doors near the library and proceed to march around the school.  All other students will be seated in the hallways to greet the third graders as they go by.

v  The third graders will then return to their classrooms for an opportunity to gather as a class for the final time, saying goodbye to their teachers and classmates.

v  Once the third graders have reentered the school, we ask all families to meet them at the usual dismissal locations to ensure we can maintain safety and account for all students.

We have been carefully monitoring our new arrival procedure. Students seem to be doing well on the playground together each morning.  They are so excited to be outside enjoying the beautiful weather, now that the rain has passed.  We appreciate the assistance and support of our families in this process and welcome your feedback and thoughts about this trial.

On Friday, May 19, our kindergarten classes will be returning to the earlier dismissal plan.  Teachers will dismiss their students directly from the classrooms to parents or other adults designated for pick up.  There will be no change to the dismissal procedure for students who attend EXCEL or ride the bus. Work has been done around the doors and Plexiglas has been added to the windows to enclose the paint which supports our return to the prior dismissal process.

Please join us on Wednesday, May 24 at 6:30 PM for the grade 3 concert.  Students are eagerly preparing for this special event under the guidance of our music teacher, Mrs. Wysokowski.   All students and staff will have an opportunity to enjoy this concert during a whole school assembly on Tuesday, May 23. We look forward to celebrating the talents and musical achievements of our third grade students.

Greetings from Mrs. Wallace's Frog Class,

Wow, this school year is really hopping along quickly.  In Math, we are learning about classifying and sorting data.  Spring brings many new  adventures in Science: planting a Secret Garden, planting our own pumpkin plants, watching in real time the life cycle of Painted Ladies butterflies, and of course we are studying the life cycle of a frog!  We have also started our "Picture in Writing Project."  The children are in the process of creating their own colorful collages, writing original poems to accompany their art work and designing their own unique books to read during our end of the year Author's Tea and Patriotic Concert.                                                            Happy Spring,  Mrs. Wallace & The Frog Class
