May 8, 2014 Donna Dankner,
We enjoyed the
wonderful talents of our first grade students during a special concert. Families enjoyed the spring weather as they
watched the students perform lively dances and sing the many songs they have
learned in music throughout the year. The students were so excited to
participate in this wonderful presentation.
Special thanks to our music teacher, Jennifer Lilley, for preparing the
students for this wonderful presentation.
On May 21, our second grade students will share their
artistic talents through a special display at Art Space. The walls are filled with colorful and
creative pieces of art that reflect the second grade art curriculum. The
students take great pride in displaying their work to share with family and
friends. Please join us on May 21 from
5-8 pm to celebrate their growth as artists throughout the year.
This week we recognized the contributions of the
amazing members of the Green Meadow Community.
I would like to take this opportunity during Teacher Appreciation Week
to thank each staff member for their commitment and dedication to providing
each child with high quality instruction in a supportive and nurturing
environment. They consistently strive to help every student maximize their
potential and develop a love of learning.
Staff and students develop strong bonds and connections throughout the
year which create an environment in which each individual is valued.
In addition, on Nurses Day we
recognized the contributions of our school nurse, Mrs. Dowst for her ongoing
focus on the well being of each member of the community. On Administrative Assistant Day we
appreciated the many contributions of Joanne LoChiatto and Kathy Sullivan our
school office who, with incredible efficiency, provide ongoing support to
maintain the efficiency of the school.
A school community is comprised of
students, staff, and community members.
During this week of recognition, we would like to take this opportunity
to thank the PTO for their overwhelming support of our school. They answer each call, providing in school
support, community events, materials and resources, and enrichment programs.
Their ongoing support and contributions truly enhance our school community.
News From Mrs.
Enneguess’s Second Grade Class
Our class has been patiently waiting
for spring to come. We ventured out to
the Vernal Pool last week. The students
took notes on all the interesting things they observed. They used these notes to write about the
experience in their journals. We
recently started our Owl Unit. Both
fiction and non-fiction texts have been read to learn more about this
interesting creature. The students are
looking forward to dissecting an owl’s pellet in the near future. In math, we are working on subtracting two
digit numbers with regrouping. It has
been a challenge but they are overcoming it.
Lastly, we have been having fun writing different types of poems. Spring Cinquain and Acrostic poems have been
composed. It’s so interesting to read
how everyone thinks differently about the same topic.
Ahoy from Mrs. McPhail's 3rd grade! We have
been busy learning about the American Revolution, painting and creating poetry
for our "Picturing Writing" projects, and continuously building our
C.A.F.E. skills during Daily 5 Literacy. We just completed the 3rd grade
Math MCAS testing this week. In the upcoming weeks we will have a guest
speaker from Boston help us learn more about Paul Revere, we are preparing our
famous person biography speeches/timelines/costumes for our "Wax
Museum", and we will be travelling up to Fowler to spend time with 4th
grade during "Up Day". There is so much to look forward to as
we sail through the last month of school! Bon Voyage!
