Although it is football and basketball season, baseball will be the focus at Green Meadow School next week. On Monday, November 25, NESN is coming to Green Meadow to film our first grade students for special segments of “Red Sox Small Talk.” The segments filmed at Green Meadow will be shown during the regular season broadcasts.
Some students from each class will have the opportunity to ask questions that will later be answered by a Red Sox player. (Unfortunately, the players themselves will not be here.) The students in each first grade class will collaborate to develop the questions from players’ biographies as well as their knowledge or interest in baseball. All first grade students will be able to watch the filming and be included in a class picture to be shown on NESN. Permission forms were sent to first grade families and must be returned by Friday to be included in the filming. Any first grade parents who did not receive a form should contact the school office.
Everyone will join in the excitement through a school spirit day. We encourage everyone to wear clothing that celebrates Red Sox or their favorite team. Another option is to wear something that is red, white, and/or blue. We are very excited to be selected to participate in “Red Sox Small Talk.”
Another special event on Monday, November 25 is the Preschool Art Show. The preschool classrooms are filled with the beautiful art work that the students created. The students are so proud as they share their amazing work with their families.
It is so hard to believe that Thanksgiving is upon us. We are so thankful to be part of this special community and share in each child’s education. We wish you a wonderful and enjoyable holiday, shared with family and friends.
News from Miss MacDougall’s Second Grade Class:
Time is flying by in Room 1C because of all the fun we are having! We have been learning lots of exciting and interesting things in second grade! The students have been introduced to several characters so far this year such as Compound Cook who helped us mix and cook up some compound words, King Ed who bosses every short vowel, and the H Brothers who can get a little crazy! In math, we have learned all about shapes, different addition strategies, and we have been working on increasing our math fluency. Also the students of Room 1C have been learning about how important science and scientists are! This week we will be visiting the Vernal Pool for the first time and we can’t wait to see the changes of the Vernal Pool all throughout the year! Writing has also played an important part this year. The students have learned how to become writers and how to write a small moment. They have also learned about realistic fiction, how to write letters, and will learn about nonfiction writing later in the year. The class is looking forward to meeting more exciting characters and becoming better writers!

We will be walking to the track for this run! If you care to meet up with us, email Mrs. Hazel at email@example.com to let her know! www.greenmeadowpe.blogspot.com@sarahazel6
