Our core values are an important part of each day. Our students know that at Green Meadow School, “We are kind, We are safe, We are learners.”  We encourage everyone to strive to demonstrate and recognize these core values throughout the day.

On Friday, we will have our first student assembly of this school year during which we will begin our “Paws” Program.   When staff members notice a student demonstrating our core values, they will give the student a paw to be placed on the bulletin board by the office. We may see students being kind to classmates, sharing with others, offering assistance, or welcoming a new friend.  In addition, when students earn a “paw,” they will also receive a note to bring home and share with their families.  Once the bulletin board is filled, we will have a school celebration to mark this special accomplishment.

We would like to welcome two new staff members to Green Meadow School.  Monica Galdamez joins us as a teaching assistant in the kindergarten Spanish Immersion Class. She has already begun working in the class and becoming familiar with the students and routines. Elizabeth Eagan will be joining us soon as a special educator, focusing primarily on second grade.  She comes to us with a wealth of experience in differentiated instruction and teaching in an inclusion setting. We look forward to the skills and experiences they bring to our school.

Mrs. Duddy’s Grade 3 Class

We have had a busy start to the school year!  We have spent a lot of time discussing respect, responsibility and effective effort.  Students have created a set of guidelines which they feel will enable them to become kind, safe, learners.  Getting to know our classmates has been fun!  The acrostic name poems paired with water color self portraits really brighten up our classroom.  Students are excited about and continue to write about small moments during Writer’s Workshop.  The goal for the year is to catch 100 compliments.  As a team, we can achieve anything!

News from Mrs. Monahan’s Kindergarten Class:

We have been working hard in kindergarten. We have been talking about numbers and letters and colors and shapes. We’ve been practicing names and drawing their pictures for Curriculum Night. We had an “apple taste test” to find out who liked which color apple best.

We discussed what living things need and with magnifying glasses, we examined a sunflower.  We talked about making patterns with two and three different colored blocks and we graphed what kind of shoes we were wearing.  We even checked out the inside of an apple to see the “star” inside.

Many thanks for all your assistance.
